This week, we look at an impactful encounter between Jesus and a Gentile woman.

From Series: "When Everything Seems Broken"

The pandemic has taken its toll on all of us in various ways and to different degrees. As we struggle with our own losses, anxieties, discouragements, and practical needs, we are also aware that in many ways we are privileged. In our workplaces, neighborhoods, and society at large, there are so many people struggling financially, emotionally, and spiritually. As followers of Jesus and as compassionate people we want to help—but how can we find the energy to care for others when we ourselves are tired and hurting? In this four-week series, we will explore what it means to be “good news,” both to ourselves and to people who may be struggling in various ways. We will discuss how our own healing is intertwined with the healing of others, and will focus on simple, practical ways to encourage and support one another. Through a study of various stories from Scripture, we will learn to listen to our own needs while strengthening our ability to listen well to the people around us. We will look at how we make time for our own wellbeing, and how we might be creative in making time for others. And we will rethink what it means to serve in meaningful ways that bring wholeness to ourselves and our world.
