A message from the series “God: Partial Perspectives.” People have been following Jesus for more than two millennia, and there have been all sorts of different emphases, distinctives and characteristics to this faith journey. In this series, we will reflect on how various traditions have understood and experienced God, with their respective strengths and limitations. We will also explore how our own temperaments, personalities and cultural backgrounds create a unique lens through which we see God, and how scientific, artistic, contemplative and activist approaches can all be helpful. In this way, we not only hope to better understand and validate our own approach, but also embrace and be nourished by the approaches of others. Together we will seek truth without fear, with the aim of nurturing a deeper connection to God and celebrating the divine image in one another. This week we look at integrity in terms of allowing God to transform our hearts so we live in a way that expresses love through honesty, empathy, self-control, and a sense of responsibility.

This week we will focus on Christ’s presence with us, empowering us to be and share the good news, thereby partnering with God in the healing and reconciliation of the world.

A message from the series “New Year\’s 2018.” This Advent season, we celebrate the story of Christmas from the perspective of some of the “smaller” characters. In this week’s message, we look at the story through the eyes of Simeon: an old man who was desperately holding onto hope that God would reach out in love to help a country that seemed to be going down the tubes. Throughout the series, we’ll reflect on our own personal stories in light of these characters and the impact they made in a much bigger narrative than they could possibly see or feel. We’ll remind ourselves that ordinary people like us, doing small things with great love, can change the world. And together we’ll embrace the traditional Advent themes to renew our hope that a world full of peace, love and joy is not only possible, but at hand!
