Message: “Celebrate Peace” from Ruth Campbell

This Christmas season we want to capture the wonder, hope and joy of the miracle of the incarnation. The birth of Christ is great news for humanity! The presence of God in the world is a gift that brings light into darkness and life from death. Christmas is a time where we can celebrate these things with joy and fervor. It’s also a time where we acknowledge our pain and loss and where we look after and comfort one another. It’s a time where we seek peace and look to the hope of new life.

During November we will be focusing on the theme of Hope in a series called “Stories of Hope” in which a number of people in our church community will be sharing stories about their own experiences. In the Kingdom of God there is always hope; not a naïve “wishful thinking” that every cloud has a silver lining; but a resolute refusal to give up, a commitment to stand for what is good, and tireless pursuit of love and beauty. We’ll explore hope as a way of life and see Jesus as one who calls us to hope even in the most impossible circumstances.

Fall Discipleship Group Series Transforming Relationships: September 12– October 19 On September 14 we will begin a six-week Discipleship Series, titled “Transforming Relationships.” Through the Sunday messages and discussion guides for discipleship groups, we will explore both how our lives are shaped and transformed by our relationships and how we can go about deepening and transforming the relationships we already have. The basic premise of the series is that the spiritual journey we are on (which varies for each of us) is impossible without close, intimate and safe friendships (fellow travelers, comrades in the struggle as it were).
