Here are two ways you can help us serve our friends in Ipala
- Smokeless Stoves for Ipala: Respiratory illness is a significant health concern in Ipala, Guatemala, with the primary culprit being cooking with an open fire in or near the home. For just $200, we can provide a new, smokeless stove for a family in Ipala. The video (Guatemala Stoves) shows some of the recipients of a previous year’s project. One hundred thirty families have received stoves the past two years, and we’re hoping to reach another sixty this year. If you or your group would like to help, you can donate to this project by designating “Guatemala Stove” on your check to CRCC. Donations can be made Dec. 6 and 13 in the Commons.
- “Victoria” books for 1st graders in Ipala: Each year, students across Guatemala use a standard lesson book which is foundational to their early learning. Some families in Ipala just can’t afford these books, and often have to hand-write the pages in order to keep up. This year, Cedar Ridge Kids, Middle School, and High School will be pooling their donations to purchase “Victoria” books for the neediest kids in Ipala. Students can bring their coins and bills on Sunday mornings in December. Thanks in advance for the generosity of our entire community.
