Lenten Quiet Day: Saturday, March 7, 9:30 AM-3:30 PM
During Lent, Christians through the ages have taken time to reflect on their relationship to God and to center their lives on their faith and spirituality. Please join us to step aside from the busyness of life and be good to your soul. Contact Melanie or Bill for information.
Saturday March 14, 9:00 AM–12:30 PM in the barn, Facilitated by Vike Thurston
Sharing our past to embrace all of our life: We will recall significant ups and downs in our past lives, and reflect on how God was present in everything, upholding and transforming us. Then we will share these stories together in pairs, and we will experience how our feelings about the past can change as someone listens to us with interest and empathy. We will also explore how to release resentment for past grievances, and how to forgive ourselves for ways we have hurt others.
Please join us after church on Sunday, March 22, to help make gift bags of children’s books for children at Riverdale Elementary, many of whom are from Ipala families. Through this monthly project, every child in the school receives on his or her birthday a special gift which encourages lifelong learning. We welcome donated books, but most of all will enjoy your presence and help with this fun project!
Saturday, March 28, from 9:00 AM-12:30 in the Barn: Exploring a Future Where Our Passions and God’s Will Are United, facilitated by Vike Thurston
We will take time together to reconnect with our personal passions and aspirations, and explore how our deepest desires are consistent with a life surrendered to God. We will also look at the various roles we play in life, and come up with goals and supporting activities for the role most on our heart that morning. Again, we will share these things together to experience new hope and enthusiasm for our future.
Our half-acre organic farm produces vegetables and fruits for local groups that serve the hungry and others in need. We will kick off our seventh year of production with a fun-filled Easter Planting Party. At this time of year when we celebrate new life bursting from the ground, we will prepare the land and sow spring crops. There will be Easter-themed crafts, games, and refreshments for children and the young at heart. Sign up on the website or on the sign-up sheets in the lobby.
We will gather together as a whole community to commemorate Jesus’ resurrection, and celebrate his goodness, love and power bringing life to all the world. We will have a service that will be enjoyable for the whole family and appropriate for children of all ages. No separate children’s gatherings.
Saturday, April 4, 9:00-12:30 in the Barn: Upholding One Another As We Pursue Our Life’s Calling, Facilitated by Vike Thurston
Embracing our past and looking forward to a meaningful future, we will learn a model for one-on-one conversations designed to support us in our life’s calling. We will practice this kind of conversation in pairs. To help us continue “sharing life stories” beyond these workshops, we will respond to these questions: Who out of love will desire God’s best for me, walk beside me, and hold me accountable to my life’s purpose? To whom will I offer the same?
