Community
The Community group is intended to offer a space where subscribers can:
- share about prayer and invite others to join with you in prayer
- find practical help recommended by other Cedar Ridgers, or give away or sell personal items
- invite people to a community-building / social event
- share about practical ways you see our vision being lived out (For example, sheltering from the frenzied pace of life, serving our neighbors, caring for the poor, living simply and ethically, becoming better people …)
- for those new to the church to connect with other Cedar Ridgers in your neighborhood
It is not intended for: » Read more
Contemplative Prayer
Prayer is essential to our spiritual life, but contemplative prayer in particular can help us into a deep awareness of the presence and love of God. Especially for those of us who live in this fast-paced, stressful, consumer-driven culture, quiet and still prayer can be like water to our God-thirsty souls.
Contemplative prayer is a way of praying beyond mere rational knowledge. It can help us into a more intuitive way of communing with God, seeking to go beyond thoughts, words and images and into a kind of resting in Divine Love. Different contemplative prayer methods are not the “goal” in and of themselves, merely tools by which we help our minds, bodies and spirits “let go” into God.
CRCC Global Engagement
As we experience God's love and healing and become more aware of God's Kingdom and the life and freedom it brings, we naturally want to share that with others. We do this not in a condescending way, not as brokers of power, but as servants who recognize the dignity, the beauty, the image of God in every person.
As we think about global engagement, it's inseparable from the other aspects of loving our neighbors around us. As we spend time with people we are profoundly changed ourselves. As we serve, we experience personal transformation that is part of the inward journey of discipleship. In our engagement, we seek to take time to develop understanding, build relationships with local people, learn from them and partner together to bring about the goodness of the Kingdom of God. » Read more

Farm
How we started:
After much prayer, research and reflection, the church approved a plan in 2008 to devote a substantial part of the property to growing organic fruits and vegetables for the needy in our region. » Read more
Greenbelt Discipleship Group
Just a little about the group: We started as the Discipleship program began in the fall of 2007. Initially we were a number of folks who were fairly new to Cedar Ridge (except for Bill and Shobha) and all young adults (except for Bill and Shobha). As time has gone on, we have grown together and become good friends, adding a few folks as we went along. At the moment (October 2009), we are pretty full, both because of space and the dynamics of discussion. We meet for each series and occasionally in between times.
Guatemala Partnership Trip
Hello - Welcome to the group!
A team of middle and high school students has been selected to serve in Ipala, Guatemala this July. We're looking forward to building relationships with Guatemalan youth, experiencing life in a developing country, and serving in practical ways.
Help Section
Hello - Welcome to the "Help" (or "Help!!!") section of the CRCC.org website.
In this area, we will post a number of wiki-style documents that will explain how to use the website. Feel free to add additional documentation if you see something missing.
If you join this group, you can edit the wikis, create posts and respond to other people's posts.

Hospitality
Hospitality is defined as "the friendly reception and treatment of guests or strangers." We also include our members in our efforts to make Cedar Ridge a welcoming place on Sunday mornings by greeting people as they arrive, providing coffee, donuts and bagels, and being available to setup tables, chairs and supplies for occasionaly gatherings.
Greeting is simply being friendly to people as they arrive. Our volunteers greet at the outer or inner doors to our main building, usually for 30 minutes before heading in to enjoy the service. » Read more

Our Property
The sixty-three acre parcel property at 2410 Spencerville Road in Montgomery County, Maryland was purchased by Cedar Ridge Community Church in 1996. We constructed a church building and opened our doors in 1998. Since then, the clay dirt surrounding the church and the invasive filled fields have slowly developed into a beautiful property full of flowers, wildlife and opportunity. We value our property and the creation throughout it. It is intentional that we have bird boxes along our fences, and 'no-mow' meadows in our back yard. We offer a prayer walk that runs throughout our land that offers tranquility and peace in an otherwise busy metropolitan corridor. Much life can be found among the vegetation: we've spotted fox, rabbits, deer and groundhogs, and an endless variety of birds. » Read more

Pray and Play!!!
Welcome to the Pray and Play Discipleship Group. We are led by our wonderful leaders Roger and Shelly Ishii and we meet at Mike and Heidi Mansen's home on most Sunday evenings. We enoy learning about Jesus, living the vision and developing close friendships. We have become one big extended family to each other. We also have a lot of fun!
Property Workdays
Property Workdays are opportunities for our community to invest in the stewardship of our fantastic 63 acres and its many features while living out our vision for growth, community and servanthood.
Workdays are scheduled every other Saturday from 8am to noon (check our calendar here for dates). Some days will find us tending to the gardens and mowing the grass while others may focus on repairing picnic tables or restoration and painting of some of the buildings on the our land. » Read more
Serving Locally
Servanthood is a major expression of the “outward journey” of discipleship; as transformed people we serve others rather than being consumed with ourselves. As followers of Jesus we feel compelled to reach out to others with love. As we experience God’s love and healing ourselves, as we become more aware of God’s Kingdom and the life and freedom it brings, we naturally want to share that with others. We do this not in a condescending way, not as brokers of power but as servants who recognize the dignity, the beauty, the image of God in every person. We serve with no agenda, hook or motive other than that people would experience God’s great, unconditional love for them. At the same time we recognize and respect our own limitations. » Read more
Silver Spring/Four Corners D-Group
Hello and welcome to the SSDG page. Our group is faciliated by Steve and Tinica Mather. (Not to be confused with that other Silver Spring Discipleship Group.) There are about a dozen of us who humbly try living out the vision of following Jesus together. During Cedar Ridge Discipleship Series we gather for discussion, prayer and friendship. This webpage is a tool to continue our dialogue.
If you have questions about our group, email Steve at stev...@gmail.com.
