Welcome to the Cedar Ridge Middle School group! We meet in the lower level of the barn at 11.00 a.m. 

 

 

 

6th Grade Promotion

Students, Parents - please mark your calendars for the fall. We have scheduled our student promotion dates for next year: new 9th graders on Sunday, August 15, new 6th graders on Sunday, August 22. Throughout the summer students should remain with their current groups. On their promotion date, students should first report to their current room and allow their leaders to ceremoniously walk them and help welcome them into their new group. If you have any questions, please email Steve Mather for High School and Lisa Dyer for Middle School.

Youth Potluck Lunch

The Middle School and High School students are inviting everyone to a potluck luncheon in the barn on Sunday, August 22, at 12:45PM. We'll share a meal and look at plans for the new school year for both Middle School and High School groups. While this is an important meeting particularly for youth parents and leaders, this will be an opportunity for everyone to connect with the teenagers in our community. Come learn what the youth have in store for next year!

Summer Plans for Youth

For most of the summer the Middle School and High School Youth groups will combine. Here is a brief description of what will be happening over the summer. If you have any questions feel free to contact any of the youth leaders. Happy Summer!!

Sunday August 1st  - working on the farm

Sunday August 8th  - summer games (maybe bring extra clothes!!)

Sunday August 15th - new 9th graders move up to High School

Middle School Youth Camp Out

Middle School students are invited to a campout at Cedar Ridge on Saturday, May 15 starting at 6 pm and going until Sunday. We will camp out at the back of the property, play games, hang out, have a fire pit, eat s’mores. Cost is $10.00. Middle Schoolers, if you want to come, you must bring a completed permission form, with your $10.00 and email Lisa Dyer to let her know you are coming.

This past weekend (Friday 11 to Sunday 13 December) our Middle Schoolers were away on retreat at Rockbridge in Virginia. They enjoyed outdoor adventure games, eating lots of food, hanging out with one another and being challenged to grow spiritually. If you went on the retreat or if you are a parent of someone who did, tell us how is was.

Children & Youth Process Papers

In 2009 we completed an ambitious church-wide process of re-imagining what it means to be a younger person (from birth to teenagerhood) and to be fully a part of the Cedar Ridge Community. We examined questions about Sunday services, small groups, serving, spiritual growth and much more. As a result the Children and Youth Steering Team released a summary and a specific list of recommended changes for our community as a whole.
