Vernon Archer is coordinating a teacher exchange with schools in Ipala Guatemala during July 2010. Certified teachers with an interest in educating immigrants from Hispanic backgrounds are encouraged to participate. The program is expanding after a very successful 2009 exchange. Teachers will provide English instruction and cooperate with professional development activities at the school assigned. Accommodations will be provided with Ipalteco families along with activities to see and experience the cultural and geographic heritage of the region. If interested please contact Vernon Archer. » Read more
Global Engagement
As we experience God's love and healing and become more aware of God's Kingdom and the life and freedom it brings, we naturally want to share that with others. We do this not in a condescending way, not as brokers of power, but as servants who recognize the dignity, the beauty, the image of God in every person.
As we think about global engagement, it's inseparable from the other aspects of loving our neighbors around us. As we spend time with people we are profoundly changed ourselves. As we serve, we experience personal transformation that is part of the inward journey of discipleship. In our engagement, we seek to take time to develop understanding, build relationships with local people, learn from them and partner together to bring about the goodness of the Kingdom of God.
