Prayer is essential to our spiritual life, but contemplative prayer in particular can help us into a deep awareness of the presence and love of God.  Especially for those of us who live in this fast-paced, stressful, consumer-driven culture, quiet and still prayer can be like water to our God-thirsty souls.

Contemplative prayer is a way of praying beyond mere rational knowledge.  It can help us into a more intuitive way of communing with God, seeking to go beyond thoughts, words and images and into a kind of resting in Divine Love.   Different contemplative prayer methods are not the “goal” in and of themselves, merely tools by which we help our minds, bodies and spirits “let go” into God.
