Exploring Genesis (and Discovering the God We Can Trust)

Logo - Cedar Ridge Community Church

We're going exploring!  This winter, children will be exploring the book of Genesis and discovering there the God we can trust.  Starting January 23, students will meet at 9am or 11am and look into the stories and message of the first book of the Bible.  Elementary children are invited to bring their own Bibles, and to read throughout the week (in case you're interested, we typically use the New International Readers Version - NIrV).  Attached you can find an outline for this series.  Passages will align with our community-wide "Origins" series.

Two resources that we'll be using periodically in the series, and which may be helpful for families, are:

"What's In the Bible? In the Beginning, Volume 1."  Tyndale Kids, 2010.  The creator of Veggie Tales provides an entertaining and very informative look at the nature of the Bible and the story of Genesis 1-11.  There's a lot of info in this hour-long, two episode video, which is best for elementary-aged children.

Sally Lloyd-Jones, The Jesus Storybook Bible.  Zonderkidz, 2007.  The first nine stories of this well-written children's Bible come from Genesis.  Designed to relate each story to the Big Story of the Bible, this can be a helpful companion for our series, especially for younger elementary children.
