This Week at Cedar Ridge: CRCC Remembers Betsy; Annual Meeting this Weekend; God’s Love in the Gospel of John

January 28, 2014

Hello Cedar Ridge,

Betsy’s Memorial Service

I want to thank you all for a truly wonderful memorial service for Betsy this past Sunday. In the saddest of circumstances we came together as a community to love and support Betsy’s family, look after one another and celebrate Betsy’s life. I especially want to thank you for being so hospitable to the many people who were visiting. These were friends, family and former Cedar Ridge members, many of whom had travelled great distances to be there. Everyone commented on the great spirit of love, welcome and acceptance that pervaded the event; thank you for creating that atmosphere. If you missed the service you can watch it here. Let’s continue to pray for Eric and Ian–check our website for details of how you can help practically.

Annual Meeting

Our annual meeting has been postponed to this coming Sunday, February 2. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend as we’ll be discussing important issues for our church family. Lunch and childcare will be provided, and we’ll begin right after the service. We’ll be all done by 1:30 PM, so don’t worry about missing any Super Bowl action. This important meeting is where we review our finances, hear reports from our Board of Trustees and also elect new Board members. In addition, I will be giving a “State of the Union” report on how we are doing as a church community and share some exciting perspective on our future. We’ll also have some good discussion with lots of opportunity for feedback and questions. If you consider Cedar Ridge your church family (whether you are formally a member of not), or if you would like to get more connected to this community, please come!

God’s Love in the Gospel of John

Finally, in our worship service this past Sunday we reflected on how much God loves us and what a difference that reality could make if we lived in full consciousness of it.  This week let’s take up the 2 challenges presented in Sunday’s message:

  1. Let’s spend just 5 minutes in silence before our day begins to be intentionally aware of and breathe in God’s love.
  2. Every time we eat, let’s be reminded and conscious of God’s love.

If we could live our lives centered on this incredible truth, who knows what could happen and what redemptive creativity could be released? The message will be available on the website by Wednesday morning.

Thank you, again, for you faithfulness and commitment to our journey together with God

With hope and expectation,

Matthew Dyer, Lead Pastor

Cedar Ridge Community Church
